Giclee:
Giclee describes the process of creating high quality digital prints. These are often replicas of an original piece of art. At Barnworks Publishing, we offer customers fine art reproductions of paintings, drawings, and pastels. To ensure our customers receive superior products, we have implemented a meticulous printing and approval process. First, a digital image of the original is captured. Great care is taken to maintain the character of the original piece. The colors and quality are equal to the original, and a vivid reproduction of the work is obtained. After the piece of artwork has been faithfully digitized, the original artist inspects and approves a proof of the print. The Giclee digital print only goes into production after approval by the original artist.

Printing method:
We utilize professional quality printing methods and materials. All Giclee prints produced by Barnworks Publishing utilized an 8 color printer. Our machine provides more clarity and crisper images than other printers in the market.  We only use archival inks which enhance the brightness, contrast, and longevity of each print.  In addition, we treat all prints with a protective coating which extends the life of the print by preserving the integrity of the inks and providing resistance to harmful UV rays. The coating also helps to prevent the sagging of stretched canvases.

Canvas and Paper:
We offer a wide variety of archival papers and an archival canvas to suite your needs. All materials are selected to meet our high standards of color saturation and resolution.  When ordering, it is important to know what visual characteristics each type of paper or canvas will produce. This will help ensure the ordered products meet and hopefully exceed customer’s expectations.

Canvas: We only use archival canvas.  It is heavy weight and water resistant with a tight weave.  The tight weave gives it a subtle texture with a matte finish.  We recommend only using canvas for color Giclees, but it can be used for black and white images as well.  Canvas has an excellent texture. It can be framed (with or without glass) or stretched.  

Somerset Velvet: Is a heavy weight archival paper which has a light texture (commonly associated with fine watercolor paper).  It is 100% cotton rag and acid free. We recommend black and white prints on this paper for best quality, but color images can also be reproduced with great results.  

Semi-Matte: Is a premium semi matte archival  paper which gives the surface of the print a low gloss appearance.

Photo Gloss: Is a very nice gloss archival paper which gives the print a high gloss photo like appearance.

Double weight matte: is a medium weight archival paper with a smooth texture and  matte look.  This paper is recommended for both color and black and white prints. Contrast is particularly sharp, achieving a very clean and sleek image.

Custom Orders and Printing
We are happy to provide custom orders to meet the needs of our customers.  If there is a preference for a specific print size, different paper / canvas for a print, please email us and allow us to provide a personalized quote.

Custom Framing
Utilizing the highest grades of materials available, all prints are framed with conservation quality matting and conservation glass.  Conservation acrylic is also available, please contact our customer service for more information about framing any print or original painting.  We are fortunate to have Jim's Glass and Mirror handle all of our framing needs and if you have any other questions or inquires please also feel free to contact them:

We take pride in our prints and originals and we can / usually include a certificate of authenticity with all prints and paintings.
